Carton Packing Calculator
Calculate how many identical rectangular items fit in a carton, testing six orientations and optional weight limits.
Carton packing estimate
How the carton packing estimate works
This calculator evaluates all six right-angle rotations of the specified rectangular item. For each orientation, it counts complete items along the carton's available internal length, width and height. It selects the regular grid with the highest geometric count, then optionally applies a maximum gross-weight constraint.
The result shows the expected items per carton, the number of cartons for the order, grid arrangement, orientation and volume utilisation estimate. Use it to compare carton options before ordering boxes.
Frequently asked questions
Do I enter inside or outside carton dimensions?
Inside dimensions. If you have external dimensions, use the Box Size Calculator to distinguish wall thickness from internal clearance.
Does this support mixed product dimensions?
No. One item shape is repeated in a rectangular grid. It does not solve general 3D bin packing.
Can the tool enforce maximum parcel weight?
Yes. Enter each item's gross weight, the empty carton weight and the maximum allowed gross weight.
